BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State-Billings volleyball
team kept rolling with one of its best starts ever, improving to 6-1 with
a sweep of visiting Minot State on Saturday. After a close 30-24 win in
the first game, the Yellowjackets cruised to victories of 30-20 and 30-16
to close the match. MSU Billings also started 6-1 in 2001.
Jessica Bratton (So., OH, Casper, WY) had another big match with 18 kills
and a .353 hitting percentage. Bratton averages 4.83 kills per game to
lead the team and the PacWest Conference.
Olivia Munro (Sr., OH, Toronto, Ontario) recorded a double-double with 10 kills
and 11 digs. She is now just three kills short of becoming the second
Yellowjacket player to reach 1,000 kills for a career. She will most
likely reach that milestone on September 17 when the Yellowjacket host
Western New Mexico in the PacWest Conference opener for both teams. Munro
needs 46 kills to tie Brandee Sayles as the all-time career kills leader
at the school.
Jessica Bachmann (Sr., RS, Gillette, WY) anchored the defense with 12 digs. Andrea Donahue (Sr., MB, Whitefish, MT) was in on six blocks and also added nine kills with a .294
hitting percentage. She leads the team with a .438 season hitting
percentage and is second for blocks at 0.83 per game.
Natalie Bills (So., S, Provo, UT) guided the offense with 38 kills. She
is now leading the PacWest Conference with an average of 13.61 per game.
The Yellowjackets host Western New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. on
Friday in a conference match, and at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in a
non-conference match. The matches will end the season’s
first home stand before the Jackets take to the road for five
straight. |
