Hoff Paces Lady Jackets to Narrow Win at
Yellowjacket Invitational (Oct.

BILLINGS, MT – Senior Anjel
Hoff (Billings, MT) won the women’s 5K at Saturday’s
Yellowjacket Invitational as the Lady Jackets out
dueled Dickinson State for the team victory.
MSU Billings squeaked by DSU by a score of 27-28 for
the season sweep of the Blue Hawks. The
Yellowjackets next race will be at the NCAA II West
Regional in Pomona, CA on November 8.
Hoff covered the 5K course in
19:21, outpacing her nearest competitor, DSU’s
Chioko Nakasone, by 18 seconds. The Yellowjackets
earned critical points by taking third and fourth
places with Tiffany Piplica (Fr., Riverton, WY)
finishing third in 20:08, and Tracie Overberg (So.,
Dodson, MT) coming in fourth with a time of 20:32.
The Blue Hawks swept places 5-8
to nearly capture the team race. The final points
came down to the ninth place finisher in the race.
The Jackets’ Chelsea Lynnes (Jr., Miles City, MT)
outran Raquel McCarthy (Jr., Butte, MT) and DSU’s
Megan Capron to take ninth and preserve the win for
the Yellowjackets. Lynnes, who has been MSUB’s top
runner all season, finished in 21:29 after injuring
her foot earlier in the week. McCarthy finished in
21:35 followed by Kendra Bebee (So., Dillon, MT) in
22:21.
The Yellowjacket men’s team
placed second to Dickinson State, 21-34. South
Dakota Tech was also in the race, but had only four
runners and did not score. The Blue Hawks’ Kylan
Beddow won the men’s 8K in a time of 26:57 and
Dickinson took four of the top five places. MSUB’s Scott Brown (So, Billings, MT) placed third in 27:50
to pace the Jackets. Sam Hartpence (So., Custer,
SD) finished sixth in 28:35, Ryan Archibald (Jr.,
Missoula, MT) finished seventh in 29:07, Joe Kragt (Fr., Billings, MT) finished eighth in 29:14, Sean
Hannifin (Fr., Billings, MT) finished tenth in
32:11, and Brendan Murray (Jr., Billings, MT)
finished eleventh in 33:03.
