Box Score
ROHNERT PARK, CA – Two days after almost
knocking off the Far West Region’s No. 9 team in overtime, the
MSU Billings women’s soccer team was blown out 4-0 at Sonoma State
on Friday. The Yellowjackets fell to 3-5-1 with the loss while
the Seawolves improved to 4-4-1.
Sonoma State scored two goals in each half,
with four different players finding the net. Crystal Howard
assisted in three of the four goals, and the Seawolves out-shot
the Jackets 19-5 in the game.
Mandy
Reed (Sr., Denver, CO) and Ally
Taylor (Fr., Ojai, CA) each had two shots in the game, and Raquel Macias (Fr., Cheyenne, WY) got off one shot. All five
shots came in the second half and were saved by SSU goalkeeper
Teresa Green.
Alyssa Wolfer (Fr., Longmont, CO) was in goal for the
Yellowjackets for all 90 minutes, allowing four goals and making
nine saves.
“We were pretty much outplayed,” said
Yellowjacket coach Don
Trentham. “We didn’t come out and perform like we are
capable. Pretty much the entire team had an off day and we didn’t
play well as a team. That happens and we’ll have to deal with
it. We just didn’t look good today, but we have a big game
against San Francisco State on Sunday, so we’ll see how we
rebound.”
MSU Billings will face San Francisco State
Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. PDT. The Gators are ranked No. 4 in
the Far West Region and are 7-3 overall after defeating Western
Oregon 1-0 on Friday. |
