Lady Jackets Fall at No. 21 Seattle (Sept. 13,
2003)
SEATTLE, WA – The MSU Billings women’s
soccer team dropped its second straight game on its road trip to
Washington, falling 4-0 to 21st-ranked Seattle
University on Saturday. The Yellowjackets fell to 2-2-1 while
Seattle improved to 5-2.
A year after being shelled 10-0 by the
Redhawks, the Jackets played SU to a 0-0 halftime tie on
Saturday. Even though MSU Billings was out-shot 14-2 in the
opening half, goalkeeper Alyssa Wolfer (Fr., Longmont, CO) made six of her nine saves
in the first 45 minutes. In last year’s meeting between the two
teams, Seattle scored five goals in each half.
The Redhawks finally beat Wolfer in the 55th minute Saturday when Kate Green scored on a rebound off the
crossbar. Back-to-back goals by Jordan Bieler in the 61st and 71st minutes put the game out of reach. Seattle
added a Katy Mak goal in te 83rd minute to close out
the scoring.
Seattle out-shot the Jackets 26-4 in the
game. Margot Merrill-Johnson (Jr., Salt Lake City) managed MSUB’s
only shot on goal. The Yellowjackets will have Sunday off before
taking on Seattle Pacific on Monday. The Falcons were 4-1
entering Saturday’s match against Northwest Nazarene. SPU is
currently ranked No. 4 in the Far West Region. |
