Weather Cancels Final Women’s Soccer Game (Oct.
31, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – The winter weather that hit
Montana this week has forced the cancellation of the women’s
soccer game between University of North Dakota and MSU Billings.
The Yellowjackets and Fighting Sioux were scheduled to play at
1:00 on Sunday. UND was supposed to play at Rocky Mountain on
Friday, but that game was also cancelled because of weather and
field conditions.
The Yellowjackets finish the season 6-10-1, a
four-win improvement over last year’s 2-14 record. The
Yellowjackets’ top two scorers from this season will both return
next year. Ally
Taylor (Fr., Ojai, CA) was the team’s leading scorer with 21
points on seven goals and seven assists. Margot
Merrill-Johnson (Jr., Salt Lake City) scored 18 points on two
assists and a team-high eight goals.
Sunday’s game was also supposed to be Senior
Day for the Lady Yellowjackets as the final home game for Mandy
Reed (Sr., Denver, CO), Heidi Robertson (Sr., Great Falls, MT), and Sara
Otis (Sr., Vancouver, WA). Otis was the Jackets’
third-leading scorer with nine points on three goals and three
assists. Reed, who missed the final six games with an injury, and
Robertson were the anchors of the Yellowjackets’ defense. |
