MSU Billings Freshman Ally Taylor Named to Women’s Soccer
All-Region Team
(Dec. 10, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – Ally Taylor, a
freshman midfielder at Montana State-Billings, was named to the
2003 National Soccer Coaches Association of America West Region
Second Team that was announced Wednesday. Taylor was the
Yellowjackets’ leading scorer this fall and becomes the school’s
first all-region selection.
“It’s certainly a great honor
for her to have been chosen as one of the top 22 players in the
West Region,” said Yellowjacket coach Don Trentham. “From top to
bottom, the West Region is the best soccer region in the country.
While it’s a great honor for her, it is also a credit to our team
because it’s difficult for a player to make the all-region team
without good players around her.”
Taylor had an immediate impact
on a young Yellowjackets team this season. The Ojai, California
native led the team with 21 points and was second on the team with
seven goals. The 21 points ties her for second all-time for a
single season with former MSUB standout Abby Farmer. Taylor’s
five points against Minnesota-Crookston were also the
third-highest single game total in school history.
“Ally had a good freshman year,
but I definitely think her best soccer is still ahead of her,”
added Trentham, who will return eleven letter winners next season.
