Lady Yellowjacket Soccer Returns Home to Face Mary (Oct. 1, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – After seven-straight road
games, the MSU Billings women’s soccer team will finally play at
Yellowjacket Field again when the Lady Jackets host the University
of Mary Sunday afternoon. It will be the first home game since
September 6 for MSUB, which won’t play in Billings again until
October 18. Sunday’s start time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.,
following an 11:30 a.m. men’s game.
The Yellowjackets lost six of those seven
road games, including four to regionally ranked opponents. The
high point of the month-long road swing was a 3-0 drubbing of
cross-town rival Rocky Mountain. Two of their three losses last
weekend in California were by one goal, including a 1-0 overtime
loss to Chico State.
Freshman Ally
Taylor (Ojai, CA) took over the team scoring lead last week
with a goal at San Francisco State. Taylor has ten points on four
goals and two assists. She passed Margot
Merrill-Johnson (Jr., Salt Lake City) who has nine points on
four goals and an assist. Her only assist of the year came on
Taylor’s goal at S.F. State.
The Yellowjackets have continued with a
two-goalkeeper system, utilizing freshmen Megan
Plank (Phoenix, AZ) and Alyssa Wolfer (Longmont, CO). Plank still has an impressive
1.12 goals-against average, allowing seven goals in 564 minutes.
She leads the duo with 49 saves. Wolfer has allowed 12 goals in
360 minutes for a 2.99 goals-against average while making 34 saves. |
