Offense Struggles in Lady Yellowjacket Loss to

SEATTLE, WA – Seattle Pacific
held MSU Billings to just 18 second half points
Saturday night in a 66-42 win over the Yellowjackets
in the Falcon Tip-off Classic. It was the
seventh-straight time that the Falcons have beaten
the Yellowjackets in Seattle, including last year’s
West Region semifinals. MSU Billings falls to 2-2
with the loss while SPU remains unbeaten at 2-0.
MSU Billings was able to build
an early five-point lead, but Yellowjacket turnovers
helped Seattle Pacific take a 35-24 lead into
intermission. The Yellowjackets shot just
29-percent from the floor in the first half.
A 23-6 Falcons run in the
second half broke the game open as turnovers and
cold shooting plagued the Lady Jackets. They
committed 29 turnovers in the game and finished
shooting just 22.6-percent from the field. The
Falcons’ Valerie Gustafson scored a career-high 24
points and grabbed ten rebounds en route to being
named the tournament MVP.
Yellowjacket center Robyn Milne
(Jr., Richey, MT) was denied her fourth-straight
double-double of the season, scoring nine points to
go with a game-high 13 rebounds. Milne was named to
the all-tournament team after scoring 24 points and
pulling down 27 rebounds in the two games in
Seattle.
Tanya Petersen (So., Billings,
MT) was the only Yellowjacket to reach double
figures with 10 points. Alisa Lordemann (Jr.,
Glendive, MT) added eight points in the
Yellowjackets’ worst offensive outing since December
9, 1995 when they lost to North Dakota State, 75-41.
The Lady Yellowjackets will
host cross-town rival Rocky Mountain College on
December 1 with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
They will then travel to Missoula to take on the
Grizzlies on December 4. |
