Lady Yellowjackets Fall in Overtime to Northwest

LACEY, WA – A second half rally
fell just short for the Montana State-Billings
women’s basketball team Friday night as the
Yellowjackets dropped their second straight game,
67-65 in overtime to Northwest Nazarene. Robyn
Milne led the Yellowjackets with 17 points, 19
rebounds and six blocked shots. MSUB dropped to
10-9 overall and 7-7 against West Region opponents.
The Yellowjackets entered the week ranked ninth in
the West Region, but dropped back-to-back regional
games to St. Martin’s and Northwest Nazarene this
week in Lacey.
The Yellowjackets trailed by
ten at halftime, but outscored the Crusaders 29-19
in the second half to force overtime. Eight points
were enough for NNU in the extra period, helping the
Crusaders even their season record at 7-7.
Jenny Auer scored 15 points for
the Yellowjackets, hitting 5 of 11 from the field.
Tanya Petersen added 14, and Jennifer Skrifvars
finished with ten points. Auer and Skrifvars each reached career highs for
points. Milne’s six blocked shots
tied her career high.
The Crusaders were led by Heidi
Buehler’s 27 points on 7 of 16 shooting from the
field. She made three of the team’s five
3-pointers. Jenny Binford added 14 points.
The Yellowjackets will travel
to Florida for two games next week. They will take
on Florida Southern on February 2 and Nova
Southeastern on February 4. Florida Southern is
10-6 overall and 7-1 at home. Nova Southeastern is
5-11 overall, but has won its last three. The
Yellowjackets will end the season with six straight
home games starting February 13 and 14 against
Converse College (SC). |
