Lady Yellowjackets Enjoy Easy Homecoming against
Green Mountain (Jan. 16, 2004)

BILLINGS, MT – After a 46-day,
ten-game odyssey, the MSU Billings women’s
basketball team returned home Friday night for a
98-49 win over Green Mountain College. The
Yellowjackets hadn’t played at home since December
1. The 98 points were just eight short of the
all-time school record of 106, which has been
reached three times. MSUB last scored over 90 in
last season’s NCAA Tournament when they ran past
Central Washington 91-69 in the opening round. The
last time the Jackets netted more than 98 points was
in a 101-59 win against Western New Mexico in
December of 2000.
MSU Billings jumped to a 10-2
lead in the first three minutes of the game. Robyn
Milne sprung free for two easy baskets in the post
during to spark the run. She finished the game with
15 points and nine rebounds.
Green Mountain closed the gap
to 12-8 at the 14:41 mark of the first half behind a
pair of 3-pointers from Tanya DeLaMater. That was
as close as the Eagles would get for the remainder
of the game as the Yellowjackets built a 49-30
halftime advantage and coasted to the 49 point win.
DeLaMater scored 25 points in the game to lead all
scorers, hitting 5-of-10 from 3-point range.
The Yellowjackets had six
players score double figures. Along with Milne,
Tanya Petersen scored a team-high 19 points on
7-of-9 shooting from the field. She was also 5-of-5
from the free throw line and pulled down four
rebounds.
Alisa Lordemann matcher her
career scoring high with 13 points and also handed
out a career-high four assists. Jamie Barker scored
a career-high 12 points, connecting on 4-of-6 from
the field. Jenny Langford added 11 points and
Sophia Forney finished with ten. Langford made
three of the Jackets’ six 3-pointers.
Along with Lordemann’s career
high for assists, Lisa Jellum and Jennifer Skrifvars
also set new career highs with six and five assists
respectively.
The win improves MSU Billings
to 9-7, dropping Green Mountain to 0-12. GMC is a
provisional Division II independent from Poultney,
VT. The Yellowjackets and Eagles will play again
Saturday with tip off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at
Alterowitz Gymnasium.
