Lady Yellowjackets Enjoy Easy Homecoming against Green Mountain (Jan. 16, 2004)
Box Score

BILLINGS, MT – After a 46-day, ten-game odyssey, the MSU Billings women’s basketball team returned home Friday night for a 98-49 win over Green Mountain College.  The Yellowjackets hadn’t played at home since December 1.  The 98 points were just eight short of the all-time school record of 106, which has been reached three times.  MSUB last scored over 90 in last season’s NCAA Tournament when they ran past Central Washington 91-69 in the opening round.  The last time the Jackets netted more than 98 points was in a 101-59 win against Western New Mexico in December of 2000.

MSU Billings jumped to a 10-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game.  Robyn Milne sprung free for two easy baskets in the post during to spark the run.  She finished the game with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Green Mountain closed the gap to 12-8 at the 14:41 mark of the first half behind a pair of 3-pointers from Tanya DeLaMater.  That was as close as the Eagles would get for the remainder of the game as the Yellowjackets built a 49-30 halftime advantage and coasted to the 49 point win.  DeLaMater scored 25 points in the game to lead all scorers, hitting 5-of-10 from 3-point range.

The Yellowjackets had six players score double figures.  Along with Milne, Tanya Petersen scored a team-high 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.  She was also 5-of-5 from the free throw line and pulled down four rebounds.

Alisa Lordemann matcher her career scoring high with 13 points and also handed out a career-high four assists.  Jamie Barker scored a career-high 12 points, connecting on 4-of-6 from the field.  Jenny Langford added 11 points and Sophia Forney finished with ten.  Langford made three of the Jackets’ six 3-pointers.

Along with Lordemann’s career high for assists, Lisa Jellum and Jennifer Skrifvars also set new career highs with six and five assists respectively.

The win improves MSU Billings to 9-7, dropping Green Mountain to 0-12.  GMC is a provisional Division II independent from Poultney, VT.  The Yellowjackets and Eagles will play again Saturday with tip off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
