Lady Yellowjackets Fall to Wildcats at San Diego
Tourney (Dec. 29, 2003)
Box Score
LA JOLLA, CA – Poor shooting
was the Lady Jackets’ downfall once again as they
were upended by Central Washington, 78-54, at the 24th annual UC-San Diego Invitational on Monday.
MSU Billings shot just 32-percent from the field and
27-percent from 3-point range. Although ten
Yellowjackets scored in the game, none reached
double figures.
The win was just the second
ever for the Wildcats over the Yellowjackets. MSUB
won the first meeting between the teams this season,
70-68, at the Seattle Pacific tournament in
November. The only other time CWU has defeated the
Yellowjackets was November 30, 2000 (75-63) in
Ellensburg.
For the third time this season,
junior captain Robyn Milne missed a double-double by
just one point. She finished with nine points and
11 rebounds. Jamie Barker added nine points—her
career-high as a Yellowjacket—on 4-of-5 shooting
from the field.
Central Washington had four
players score in double figures, led by Angela
Jensen’s 22. Lindsay Weiss had a double-double of
14 points and 14 rebounds. The Wildcats shot
44-percent from the field and 93-percent from the
free throw line, improving to 6-3.
Alisa Lordemann finished with
eight points and four rebounds for the
Yellowjackets, and Jenny Auer chipped in seven
points before fouling out.
MSU Billings, now 5-6 overall,
will face Humboldt State in its next two games. The
Yellowjackets and Lumberjacks will meet Tuesday at
the UC-San Diego tourney and again on January 2 in
Arcata, CA. |
