Yellowjackets’ Milne Earns All-Region Honors
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State
University-Billings center Robyn Milne was named to
the Daktronics NCAA Division II West Region second
team on Tuesday. The team is nominated and selected
by sports information directors at
the region’s 24 schools that sponsor women’s
basketball. The region includes teams from the
California Collegiate Athletic Association, the
Great Northwest Athletic Conference as well as
independents Montana State-Billings and Western New
Mexico.
Milne, a 6-foot-3 junior from
Richey, Mont., started all 27 games for the
Yellowjackets this season. She averaged a
double-double of 14.4 points and 11.6 rebounds a
game and registered 14 double-double games for
points and rebounds. Along the way she set career
highs for points (22 vs. Nova Southeastern) and
rebounds (22 vs. Alaska-Fairbanks).
Milne has played in 76 games as
a Yellowjacket over three years, missing just seven
games in her sophomore season because of a broken
hand. In that time, she has climbed into the top
ten in school history in four career categories.
She is No. 2 for blocked shots behind former
teammate Jessie Henigman. Milne will need 98 blocks
as a senior to catch Henigman, who is also No. 15 in
NCAA Division
II history for career blocks. This season Milne
also moved up to No. 3 for rebounds per game (8.8),
No. 7 for career rebounds (667) and No. 4 for field
goal percentage (52.9).
Milne’s junior season totals
for rebounds (313) and rebounds per game (11.6) are
both third in school history for a single season.
She also blocked 74 shots this season, second most
in school history, and holds the Nos. 2, 5 and 6
spots for single season blocked shots. She was
ranked in the top ten in the nation at the end of
the season for both blocked shots and rebounds per
game.
Known for her dominating
defense and rebounding, Milne added a scoring touch
to her arsenal this season. She scored 388 points,
netting double figures in 21 of 27 games including
the final nine in a row. She now has 705 points for
her career, putting her at No. 24 in school history
entering her senior season. With 295 points next
year, Milne will become the sixteenth player in
Yellowjacket history to score 1,000 points. If she
matches her rebound total of this season, she will
also become the all-time No. 1 rebounder in school
history.
