Yellowjackets Fall 3-0 at Hawaii-Hilo (Oct. 3, 2003)

HILO, HI – The MSU Billings volleyball team had its
losing streak extended to five matches Friday after the Yellowjackets
lost, 3-0 (30-28, 30-23, 30-22) at Hawaii-Hilo. The Yellowjackets dropped
to 0-3 in the PacWest and 3-11 overall, while the Vulcans improved to 1-1
in the PacWest and 4-7 overall.
Freshman Jessica Bratton (Casper, WY) was the Yellowjackets’ lone bright spot, knocking down a
team-high 14 kills with a .226 hitting percentage. Olivia Munro (Jr., Toronto, Ontario) added 11 kills. Bratton is second on the team
with 123 kills this season. Munro leads the Yellowjackets with 163.
The Vulcans used double-digit kills from three
players to power past the Jackets. Sara Pilgreen led all players with
16. She leads the PacWest with a 5.0 kills-per-game average.
MSU Billings will fly to Honolulu to face Chaminade
on Saturday. The Silverswords, who qualified for the NCAA Tournament last
year, are 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the PacWest. MSU Billings will be off
Sunday before playing at No. 11 Hawaii Pacific on Monday and No. 3 BYU-Hawaii
on Tuesday.
