Munro, Beal Earn VB All-Conference Honors from
PacWest (Nov. 20,
2003)
BILLINGS, MT – Olivia Munro was
named to the Pacific West Conference second-team this week in voting by
league coaches. The junior outside hitter from Toronto, Ontario was
the Yellowjackets leading hitter, averaging 4.04 kills per game to rank
seventh in the PacWest. She also averaged 3.31 digs per game which
was second on the team and fifth in the conference.
Munro finished the season with 368
kills and could threaten the school career record next season. She
has 893 career kills after three seasons at MSU Billings. The school
record is 1,143 held by Brandee Sayles, leaving Munro 250 kills from the
record. This season she posted career-highs for kills in a season as
well as kills in a game when she knocked down 33 against Western New
Mexico to end the year.
Munro was the only all-conference
selection for the Yellowjackets, who finished the season 6-20. Sandy
Beal, a senior from Troy, Montana, was named to the PacWest Conference
All-Academic Team for her 3.52 grade point average. Beal is majoring
in Health and Physical Education and was the only Yellowjacket named to
the academic team. To qualify for academic all-conference, the
player must be in at least her second year of competition at the school,
hold above a 3.30 GPA, and play in at least half of the team's contests. |
