MSUB’s Fry Loses in Consolation Quarterfinals at
Montana (Oct. 12, 2003)
MISSOULA, MT – MSU Billings
women’s tennis player Becky Fry (Jr., Miles City,
MT) lost in the consolation quarterfinals of the
University of Montana Fall Invitational that ended
late Sunday. Fry lost in straight sets to Idaho’s
Tara Fielding (6-0, 6-2), who went on to advance to
the finals. Fielding will face Idaho’s Kareen
Konishi in the final. Because of the late ending,
the two will square off against each other once they
return to Idaho.
Fry and the Yellowjackets’ Jose
Garcia advanced the furthest in the singles draw.
Garcia made it to the main draw quarterfinals where
he lost to third-seeded Stan Nevolovich from
Montana. Nevolovich lost in the semifinals to
second-seeded Brad Lum-Tucker of Idaho.
The Lady Yellowjackets will
play at MSU-Bozeman next weekend with the Bobcats
and Whitman College expected to be in attendance.
Both Yellowjacket teams will wrap up the fall
schedule with a Halloween weekend meet at Idaho
State University on October 31 and November 1.
Idaho State, Weber State and Utah State are the
expected opponents. |
