HONOLULU, HI – Montana State-Billings remained winless in PacWest play, losing 6-4 and 4-3 at Chaminade University on Saturday.  The Yellowjackets dropped to 4-8 overall and 0-6 in the conference.  The Silverswords won for the first time this season, moving to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in the PacWest.  The Jackets wrap up their two-week road swing with a double-header at Chaminade on Sunday.

MSU Billings held early leads in both games before allowing late Silverswords rallies in each.  In game one, the Jackets scored a run in the first and three in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead.  Sara Hanley was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.  Christy Wankel’s three-run homer in the top of the fifth plated Hanley and Layne Pavey, giving pitcher Joey Ehnes a four run lead.  Ehnes was roughed up for six runs in the bottom of the fifth with the top four batters in the order scoring.  She gave up seven hits and three earned runs.  Three Yellowjacket errors contributed to the Silverswords’ rally.

In the second game, the Yellowjackets again jumped to a lead, scoring three runs in the top of the second.  Pitcher Megan McCrae drove in two of the Yellowjackets’ runs with a single.  She later scored on an Anna Henderson single.  The Silverswords put two runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth to draw within a run.  Chaminade then scored on a one-out wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3.  A two-out double scored the winning run, giving the Silverswords their second comeback win of the day.  McCrae took the loss, giving up 12 hits and four runs in 6 2/3 innings.
