MSUB’s Pavey Earns Player of the Week Honors (Apr. 12, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – MSU Billings catcher Layne
Pavey (Jr., Spokane, WA/Lewis & Clark HS) was named PacWest Player
of the Week on Monday after leading the Yellowjackets to three
wins over regionally ranked Hawaii Pacific over the weekend.
Pavey batted .538 for the week, driving in
four runs and scoring twice. She hit two home runs in the
four-game series, including the game-winner in the Yellowjackets’
8-5 extra innings victory on Saturday. She had a 1.077 slugging
percentage and a .571 on base percentage against the Sea Warriors.
Pavey currently ranks tenth in the PacWest
Conference for slugging percentage at .460. She is also tied for
second in the conference with four home runs and tied for fourth
in the league with 22 RBI.
After several big games over the past few
weeks, Pavey now leads the Yellowjackets in batting average at
.314. She also leads the team in slugging percentage and on base
percentage (.369).
