Yellowjackets’ Ehnes Earns PacWest Player of the Week Honors (Feb. 9, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings pitcher
Joey Ehnes was named the Pacific West Conference softball player
of the week on Monday after leading the Yellowjackets to a 4-2
record at the Las Vegas Classic last week.
Ehnes
was 3-0 as a starter for the Jackets, earning wins against
Longwood College, Vanguard University, and Pittsburg State
University (KS). She struck out 20 batters, allowing just seven
hits and one earned run in 21 innings of work.
Against Pittsburg State—which had beaten
PacWest teams Hawaii-Hilo, 16-2, and BYU-Hawaii, 7-3—Ehnes took a
no-hitter into the seventh inning where she gave up a one-out
bloop single for her only hit allowed in the game.
Ehnes, a junior from Great Falls, MT, has
been an All-PacWest second team selection in each of her first two
season with the Yellowjackets. She holds school records for
career earned run average (1.95), career victories (15), and
career strikeouts (127).
