Yellowjackets Drub Colorado Christian for Second Men’s Soccer Win (September 4, 2003)
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – The MSU Billings men’s
soccer team picked up its second win in a row Thursday with a 6-1
dismantling of Colorado Christian University. Thomas Pertuit
(Jr., Billings, MT) scored seven points to lead the Jackets. The
match was played at the Westminster College tournament in Salt
Lake City.
Pertuit helped the Yellowjackets (2-1-1) jump
to a 3-1 halftime advantage with a pair of goals in the first
half. Robbie Timm and Lucas Sanchez, both seniors from nearby
Park City, Utah, assisted on Pertuit’s goals. Timm closed out the
Yellowjackets’ first half scoring with a goal of his own, assisted
by Brian Palmer (Jr., Laramie, WY).
“Even though we were up 3-1,” said head coach
Doug Seigle, “we made a lot of mistakes in the first half. At
halftime we focused on cleaning up our mistakes and we did a
pretty good job in the second half. Everyone got into the game
and it was a nice team win. Our goal for the rest of the weekend
is to clean up the mistakes, though. The competition we have
coming up is going to get tougher, so we’ll have to play sharper.”
Andres Calabro (Sr., Cipolletti, Argentina),
Victor Sargent (Fr., Billings, MT) and Pertuit all added goals in
the second half for the final margin of victory. Pertuit also had
a second half assist. |
