Yellowjacket Men Fall at Colorado Springs for Fifth Straight Loss (Sept. 27, 2003)

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The injuries keep
adding up with the losses for the MSU Billings men’s soccer team
after a 4-1 loss at University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on
Saturday night. The Yellowjackets drop to 5-7-1 for the season
while the Mountain Lions improve to 4-4.
The Yellowjackets, who were missing three
starters from the trip and reportedly suffered more injuries in
Saturday’s game, were out-shot 12-7 in the first half and 24-8 in
the game. The Mountain Lions put the game out of reach with three
first half goals to take a 3-1 halftime advantage. Patrick Boltz scored the Yellowjackets’ only goal in the 30th minute. The goal was unassisted. Boltz was later injured and had
to leave the game.
Yellowjacket goalkeeper Jess Feldtman allowed
all four goals, but made ten saves while facing a barrage of shots
all night. A.J. Reyes fired three shots for the Yellowjackets,
but none were on goal. Brian Palmer had two shots, and Andres Calabro had one. The Lions’ Jared Blackney had a pair of goals in
the winning effort.
MSU Billings will try to put a stop to a
five-game losing streak on October 4 when the Yellowjackets host
University of Mary in their first home game of the season. They
will also host Westminster College on October 5. Both games are
scheduled for 11:30 a.m. starts. |
