Yellowjacket Men’s Soccer Falls at Seattle (Sept. 21, 2003)
SEATTLE, WA – The MSU Billings men’s soccer
team lost its second-straight game Sunday, falling 3-0 at Seattle
University. The Redhawks, ranked eighth in the Far West Region,
improved to 4-2-0 while the Yellowjackets dropped to 5-4-1.
After not getting off a shot against Seattle
Pacific on Friday, the Yellowjackets had a little more success
against Seattle on Sunday, although they were still out-shot 20-3
in the game. Victor Sargent (Fr., Billings, MT) had a pair of shots for the
Jackets, with one shot on goal. Thomas Pertuit (Jr., Billings, MT) had MSUB’s other shot.
“We played a little better today than we did
at SPU,” said Yellowjacket head coach Doug
Seigle. “I think Seattle is probably a better team than SPU
and we were more competitive today. We got down 2-0 in the first
half, but settled down after that and played well. We’re still
fighting a lot of injuries, but we did some things better.”
The Jackets fell behind early when SU’s Ian
Chursky scored just 4:45 into the game. Chursky added a second
goal in the 26th minute to give the Redhawks their 2-0
halftime advantage. Seattle added an insurance goal in the 55th minute to secure its second win in a row.
Jess
Feldtman (So., Lander, WY) played the entire game in goal for
the Yellowjackets, giving up three goals and making three saves.
Feldtman leads the team with 20 saves in six appearances this
season.
MSU Billings is now 0-3-0 all-time against
Seattle. The Yellowjackets will close out their three-game road
trip Monday night at Western Washington with game time is
scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PDT. MSUB is 0-5-0 all-time against the
Vikings, including a 2-0 loss last season in Bellingham. |
