Billings Senior
Duo to Play for Yellowjackets (July 1, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – MSU Billings men’s soccer
coach Doug Seigle announced Tuesday that Victor Sargent and
Matthew Holm have signed national letters of intent to play for
the Yellowjackets this fall. Both are 2003 graduates of Billings
Senior High School.
Sargent and Holm helped the Broncs to an
unbeaten regular season last year, placing second in the Eastern
Division with an 8-0-4 record. Senior lost to Flathead HS in the
consolation game of the state tournament and finished with an
overall record of 10-2-4. Sargent and Holm also played together
on the Bozeman Premier Club team, which was ranked in the top 20
in the region.
Sargent was a team captain and earned
all-state honors as a midfielder in 2002. He graduated with a
4.00 GPA and was a valedictorian at Senior HS this spring. He was
also a member of Senior High’s last state championship team in
1999.
“As the only collegiate men’s soccer program
in Montana, we are committed to keeping the best local talent in
state,” said Seigle of the two Billings prospects. “Both Victor
and Matthew are excellent examples of this. Victor has had great
success at the high school and club levels and should be able to
make an immediate impact on our team with his leadership and
athletic skills. Matthew is a hard working player who should
fight for playing time as he develops into a stronger player. I
think both players will add size and strength to our team. They
can both play multiple positions in either the defense or
midfield.” |
