Former Laurel Golfer to Play for Yellowjackets (July 29, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – MSU Billings
golf coach Dave Doherty has announced that former
Laurel High School standout Judd Norman will join
the Yellowjackets for the upcoming season. Norman
is a 1999 graduate of Laurel HS and played two years
at Rocky Mountain College.
At Laurel, Norman had three
top-five individual finishes at the Class A state
tournament, helping the Locomotives to state team
titles in 1997, 1998 and 1999. He placed third as
both a sophomore and junior, and fifth as a senior.
Norman earned second team
all-conference honors as a freshman and sophomore at
NAIA Rocky Mountain before transferring in 2001 to
Idaho State University, where he redshirted. After
using his one-time transfer exception to attend
Idaho State, Norman attended classes at MSUB during
the 2002-2003 school year to complete his required
academic year in residence. He will have one season
of eligibility remaining for the Yellowjackets.
“I returned to Billings as soon
as I heard that MSU Billings was forming a men’s
golf team,” said Norman. “I am acquainted with some
of the other members of the team as well as Coach
Doherty.”
