Yellowjackets Race to 125-93 Win Over Alumni in Final Tune Up (Nov. 17, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – Trae Fortier’s game-high 30
points and 17 rebounds lifted the MSU Billings men’s basketball
team to a 125-93 win over a Yellowjacket Alumni team on Monday
night. Fortier (Jr., Los Angeles, CA) was 13-of-22 from the field
and 3-of-5 from 3-point range. The Yellowjackets will open the
regular season Saturday night when they host Minot State.
Five Yellowjackets scored double-digits and
MSUB made 14 3-pointers in the game. Jerett Skrifvars (Sr., Brea,
CA) showed that he is back to form after recovering from hand
surgery. He scored 22 points and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the
free throw line. Dave Carse (Sr., Billings, MT) added 19 points,
making five 3-pointers and handing out four assists. Buddy Windy
Boy (So., Lodge Grass, MT) scored 13 points on three 3-pointers,
and Bill Day (Sr., Boise, ID) finished
with a dozen points.
The Alumni were led by Danny Phillips’ 23
points on 4-of-10 shooting from 3-point. Phillips, who graduated
from MSUB in 2002, is the fourth most prolific 3-point shooter in
school history with 222 career threes. Joe Trotier added 17
points and seven rebounds. Jethro Wilson scored 16 points, and
Willy Davison added 10 points to go with five assists. Davison is
No. 4 in the Yellowjacket record book with 415 career assists.
Tip off for Saturday’s game against Minot
State is 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gymnasium. The Yellowjackets are
4-0 all time against the Beavers.
