Yellowjacket Cheer Team Ready to Host Cheer and
Stunt Camp (August 2, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – Yellowjacket Cheer and Stunt Camps for high school
students are being offered this summer at Montana
State University-Billings.
The camps in August will focus on teaching the
skills and techniques necessary for high school
cheer teams to be successful at both cheerleading
and stunting.
Dani Ruoff, Yellowjacket Head Coach of the
MSU Billings Cheer and Stunt team, will be the coach
for these camps, along with special guest coach
LaVern Anderson, director of International
Cheerleading.
There are several camp options from which to
choose. Campers can enroll for two days of
instruction on August 13 and 14, a three-day session
August 13-15, or a four-day session August 13-16.
The two-day camp is $120; the three-day session is
$150; and the four-day camp is $175. All camps will
include cheer/chants, dance and stunts. “A variety
of material will be taught during the group
sessions, and all camp attendees will have the
opportunity to participate in each session,” Ruoff
says.
For out-of-town campers, dormitory rooms are
available for an additional $14 per day.
“Coach Anderson has a strong background in stunting,
cheer, tumbling, and choreography,” Ruoff says.
“His skills dominate every area of cheerleading.
All who have worked with LaVern know that they have
worked with the best.
Ruoff has coached the Yellowjacket Cheer Team since
1997 when she returned to MSU Billings after
coaching a high school team in Ketchikan, Alaska.
Ruoff was a member of the Yellowjacket Cheer Team
from 1990-1993 and was the team’s coach from
1993-1995. During her 10 years as a cheer coach,
she has attended and staffed numerous cheer camps,
including UCA, NCA, ICF, COA and Power
Cheerleading. Last spring, Ruoff took the
Yellowjacket Cheer Team to its first competitive
cheer competition in the program’s history where the
squad earned a fourth place finish and captured
first place in the all-female stunt competition.
