MSU Billings Cheer Team Hosts Regional COA
Tournament Sunday (Nov. 7, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – The Yellowjacket
Cheer Team will host its first-ever Cheerleaders of
America Regional Tournament this Sunday, November 9,
at Alterowitz Gymnasium. Seven high schools from
Montana as well as seven all-star cheer teams are
scheduled to compete in ten different categories.
Registration begins at noon on
Sunday with a mandatory coach’s meeting at 12:45.
The competition starts at 1:00 and will wrap up
around 2:30 with an awards ceremony. High school
teams from Three Forks, Huntley Project, Big Timber,
Billings West, Billings Central, Billings Skyview,
and Browning will be participating along with seven
groups from MISMO All Star Cheer. Along with
competing for regional awards, teams will be vying
for regional points to earn positions at the
national tournament in April in Orlando, Fla.
General admission tickets will
be sold at the door. Adult ticket prices are $5,
senior citizens and students will be admitted for
$3, and children five and under are free.
“This is a great opportunity
for area teams, both from Billings and from around
Montana,” said Yellowjacket head cheer coach Dani
Ruoff. “It’s the only competition of its kind in
Montana and we think that it can grow into a large
event in the future.” |
