New Bees Basketball League Starts Sunday at MSUB (Sept. 25, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – The inaugural Billings Bees
Boys’ Basketball League sponsored by the Billings Gazette will
hold its registration, draft and first practice sessions this
Sunday, September 28, at Alterowitz Gymnasium. Registration begins at 6:00 p.m.
in the Alterowitz lobby. The league is a separate activity from
the annual Billings Bees youth clinics.
The Bees Basketball League is for boys in
grades 5-8. Participants will be divided into two divisions
according to skill level and experience at this Sunday’s
fundamentals practice and draft. The league will be limited to
the first 80 to register, with participants being broken-up into
eight ten-player teams. All teams will be coached by current
Yellowjacket men’s basketball players.
League play will begin October 5 and continue
for four consecutive Sundays (Oct. 12, 19 and 26). League games
will be played from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. each night with teams
guaranteed seven 32-minute games. A single-elimination league
tournament will be held November 2 with the championship game
played prior to the Yellowjackets’ November 10 exhibition game.
