Yellowjackets Take Over National Scoring Lead (Jan. 27, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State-Billings
men’s basketball team is ranked first in the nation for scoring in
this week’s NCAA national statistical leaders, averaging 95.4
points per game. The Yellowjackets were No. 2 last week, trailing
Pfeiffer, but passed the Falcons for this week’s top spot with two
100-point games. MSUB also leads the nation in 3-point shooting
for the second week in a row with an average of 12.8
three-pointers made per game.
Sophomore guard Cameron Munoz is tops in the
nation for 3-pointers made for the second straight week, averaging
4.6 per game. He also ranks fifth in the country for 3-point
field goal percentage. Junior forward Trae Fortier is eighth in
the nation for scoring with a 23.1 ppg average. He leads the
PacWest in scoring and was named PacWest player of the week this
week.
The Lady Yellowjackets’ Robyn Milne climbed
all the way to No. 2 in the nation for rebounding, posting two
games with double-digit rebounds including 19 against Northwest
Nazarene on Friday. She is also ranked in the top 15 for blocked
shots, sitting at No. 14 this week.
