David Austin enters his first season as an assistant coach with the
Yellowjackets after playing for MSU Billings for four seasons. He played
from 1997 to 2001, missing one season due to injury.
Austin completed his eligibility in the fall of 2001, playing in all
16 of the Yellowjackets’ games and helping the squad to a program-best
7-7-2 record. The 2001 team that posted that .500 record was also
responsible for the program’s best one-season improvement, bettering the
2002 season’s 3-16 mark.
As a senior, Austin led the Yellowjackets with eight goals and was
second on the team with 17 points. His 0.50 goals per game average as a
senior is the fourth-best single season average in school history. He
also scored eight goals in fifteen games in the 1998 season, for a 0.53
goals per game average, third-best in school history. Austin graduated
as the Yellowjackets’ all-time leader for total points (45), total goals
(28), and goals per game (0.56)
Austin will work with forwards and midfielders this season, sharing
his offensive experience with the 2003 Yellowjackets. He will also have
responsibilities with practice preparation, game preparation, and team
travel. |
