MSU Billings Women Finish Second at Black Hills
Cross-Country Meet (October 18,
2002)
BILLINGS, MT – The MSU Billings
women’s cross-country team used top five finishes by Chelsea Lynnes and Ellen Swogger to take second place at the Black Hills State
Invitational on Friday. The two Miles City natives
finished 4th and 5th respectively.
Lynnes completed the 5K course
in 20:44, with Swogger coming in just behind her at
20:52. The teammates have led the Yellowjackets all
season, with Swogger finishing ahead of Lynnes in
the previous two meets.
Black Hill State swept five of
the top seven spots in the race to claim the meet
title. The top two finishers each broke the meet
record, with winner Jessie Palczewski establishing a
new meet record of 19:19.
Rounding out the Yellowjackets’
top five were Anjel Hoff (11th place, 21:34), Kelly Long (14th place, 21:58) and Mandy Brown (20th place, 23:37). Also finishing for
MSU Billings were Tracie Overberg (23rd place, 24:22), Kendra Bebee (25th place, 24:49), Colleen Knudson (26th place, 25:32), and Abbey Strutz (27th place,
27:16).
The Yellowjacket men’s squad
was paced by Brian Fosjord’s
19th place finish, completing the 8K
course in 31:49. Ryan Archibald came in 22nd with a time of 33:08. Ben McNelley returned to action after a month-long layoff due to
military training with a 26th place
finish and a time of 33:36. McNelley hadn’t
competed in a meet since September 14.
MSU Billings will host the
Yellowjacket Invitational next Saturday at
Riverfront Park. A fun run will take place at 9:00
a.m. with the college meet beginning at 10:00 a.m.
