MSU Billings Cross-Country Travels to Rocky Mountain
Shootout in Boulder (October 2,
2002)
BILLINGS, MT – The MSU Billings
men’s and women’s cross-country teams will travel to
Boulder, Colorado this weekend for the Rocky
Mountain Shootout hosted by the University of
Colorado. The Yellowjackets are competing in their
first meet in two weeks.
The meet is scheduled to
feature at least 15 teams, including NCAA Division
II powers No. 1 Adams State, No. 2 Western State,
and No. 10 UC-Colorado Springs. A handful of
Division I teams are also slated to compete
including Colorado and Wyoming.
The Yellowjacket women’s team
placed fourth last year’s event. Coach Dave Coppock
hopes that this year’s squad will be able to perform
just as well.
“This meet is a good chance to finally see how we
stack up against other DII schools,” said Coppock.
“It’s an important step in our progress towards NCAA
Regionals. The women have run well against some of
the top NAIA schools so far and have stepped up
their conditioning. The week off from competition
gave us a chance to do some hard workouts, plus we
caught up on school, work, and family.” |
