MSU Billings Falls Short at No. 13 Northern Colorado
GREELEY, CO – The Montana State
University-Billings women’s soccer team got to
measure itself against one of the best teams in the
country Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 to 13th-ranked
Northern Colorado.
MSU Billings gave up an early
goal when UNC’s Catie Holden scored in the 11th minute, but the Yellowjackets held up defensively
for the rest of the first half. Even though they
were out-shot 12-0 in the opening 45 minutes, the
Lady Jackets only trailed 1-0 at intermission.
The Bears used a combination of
speed and depth to outshoot the Yellowjackets 12-2
in the second half and eventually pulled away for
the 3-0 win to remain undefeated. Freshman
goalkeeper Lacey Humbracht stopped seven shots in
the game as MSU Billings fell to 1-3 on the season.
The Yellowjackets will be on
the road again next week when they travel to Helena
on Sept. 18 to face Carroll College. They will then
spend the weekend in Washington where they will face
Whitworth on Sept. 21 and Whitman on Sept. 22. The
latter game will mark the 100th in the
program’s history. |
