Yellowjacket Men’s Soccer Blows First Half Lead, Falls to Seattle (October 5, 2002)
SEATTLE, WA – MSU Billings (4-7) jumped on
top of Seattle University (7-4-1) to take a 2-0 halftime lead
Saturday, but gave up five second-half goals to fall 5-2. The
Yellowjackets were playing their tenth road game of the season.
Joe Ferguson’s second goal of the year gave MSU Billings a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute. Just 30
seconds later, Mike Gallegos put the Yellowjackets up 2-0 with his
fourth goal of the season. Lucas Sanchez and Mark Cipolla assisted on the two goals respectively. Cipolla is the
Yellowjackets’ leading scorer with 22 points on the season.
Seattle caught and passed the Yellowjackets
with four goals in a 17-minute span of the second half. In all,
five different Redhawks scored in the final 40 minutes to give
Seattle its seventh win of the year. SU used an 18-5 second half
shot advantage to out-shoot the Yellowjackets 27-10 in the game. |
