Doug Seigle enters his first
season as the Head Men's Soccer Coach for the Yellowjackets.
Seigle is a native of Atlanta, Georgia.
“Doug brings a lot of experience to the program,
both as a player and a coach,” said Gray. “He’s been successful at many
levels, from high school to professional. We expect that he will be
able to take a program that has a good foundation and build it into one
that competes on a national level.”
Seigle played college soccer at Viterbo College in
La Crosse, Wisconsin, where he was a three-time NAIA All-America
selection. He was a four-year starter at goalkeeper at Viterbo and
still holds school records for career wins and career shutouts. As a
senior, he was selected to play in the Umbro Senior Soccer Bowl. In
2002, Seigle was inducted into Viterbo’s Wall of Fame.
Since finishing college, Seigle has been coaching
and playing professionally throughout the Midwest and Southeast. Seigle
has played for the Tallahassee Scorpions and Tupelo Houndogs of the
Eastern Indoor Soccer League as well as the Omaha Flames, Sioux City
Breeze, and Atlanta Express of the United States Independent Soccer
League.
For the past four years Seigle has been the assistant men’s coach at Luther College in Decorah,
Iowa. He has also coached and directed numerous youth camps and has
been active in youth soccer programs and camps since 1987.
“Over the past twenty years, I have gained great
experience with my success as both a player and coach,” said Seigle.
“This has helped me prepare to run a quality collegiate soccer program.
I’m confident that MSU Billings has the potential to be that quality
program.” |
