MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Montana State University Billings has named David E. Buckingham as Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. The assignment was provided through a placement by The Registry for Colleges and University Presidents.

Buckingham has successfully served in other interim positions through the Registry, most recently as the Interim Dean of Students for Randolph College (Lynchburg, VA). Prior to that, he was Interim Chief Student Affairs Officer for University of Maine at Fort Kent and Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs for University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Buckingham spent the majority of his academic career at Virginia Wesleyan College, now Virginia Wesleyan University (Norfolk, VA) working as an instructor of history, Dean of Students, Acting Director of College Communications, Special Assistant to the President, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, and Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Enrollment. He was named Dean Emeritus in 2015.

Buckingham has a bachelor’s degree in social science from Campbell College (Buies Creek, NC) and a master’s degree in history from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA). He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

“We are pleased to have David Buckingham joining the team. He brings a wealth of experience, particularly with growing enrollment, working with diverse students populations including Native Americans, and developing an outreach program for veteran students. We look forward to his contributions as we begin our strategic planning process this fall,” commented Chancellor Dr. Dan Edelman.
