MSU BILLINGS NEWS — The 30th Science Expo is scheduled for Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24 at the Alterowitz Gymnasium on the MSU Billings campus. This year, MSU Billings and MSUB Foundation have partnered with Billings Clinic to produce the event due to the retirement of longtime Billings Clinic Science Expo Coordinator Marietta Reviczky-Dolan.

The Science Expo is the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair-affiliated regional science fair for southeastern Montana. It includes:

  • a regional science fair
  • guest scientists
  • interactive science exhibits

Students from grades 1-12 in the 24-county region are invited to enter the competition free of charge. Students compete for gifts, cash prizes, awards, scholarships, and the ability to compete on the international stage during the two-day event, all provided due to the generosity of sponsors. To participate, students must register by midnight on February 23 by visiting https://www.msubillings.edu/scienceexpo/registration-elem-middle.htm and https://www.msubillings.edu/scienceexpo/registration-HS.htm.

“The STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields offer great possibilities for future generations,” comments MSU Billings Interim Chancellor Dr. Ron Larsen. “MSU Billings and the MSUB Foundation are proud to partner with Billings Clinic to ensure that the Science Expo continues to offer learning opportunities for eastern Montana’s youth for many years to come.”

“The Science Expo has been a tradition at Billings Clinic for many years,” said Dr. Randall Gibb, Billings Clinic CEO. “We are very excited that MSU Billings is partnering with us to run this fun and important event. It is imperative that we get young people excited about science and encouraged to one day join our health care workforce.”

Community involvement is an integral part of the Science Expo. Sponsors, volunteers, judges, and exhibitors all help make the event a success each year. For more information visit https://www.msubillings.edu/scienceexpo/ or contact Vonda Lancaster (406)657-2246 or vonda.lancaster@msubillings.edu.
