MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Ashlee Young, a graduate of the Montana State University Billings Department of Music, will be presenting a recital this week.

The free recital will be Friday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cisel Recital Hall on the MSU Billings main campus, 1500 University Drive. The recital is open to all.

Young will perform works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Lizst and Prokofiev.  She recently completed her first year of study at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music where she is pursuing a master’s degree in piano performance. 

 

Young was an award-winning student while at MSU Billings.  A student of Professor Dorothea Cromley, she began studying with her when she was in high school. In 2009, she performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in 2008. Throughout her student career, Young was an active performer appearing in many recitals, festivals and competitions.  In 2006, she traveled to Los Angeles to compete in the International Franz Liszt Competition where she received honorable mention.  In 2006, she was also a finalist in the Coeur D’Alene Young Artist Competition and Young was also the winner of the winner of the Montana Association of Symphony Orchestras Competition in 2007.
