Orientation for Freshman & Adult Learners
Welcome to the Yellowjacket Family!
We are very excited for you to start your academic career at Montana State University Billings! Special Fast Pass Registration sessions are reserved for first-time freshman and adult learners, providing you specialized guidance from our New Student Specialists and Advising teams.
Step 1 - RSVP for a Fast Pass Registration Session:
Fast Pass Registration sessions are designed to fast track your course schedule and
ensure you get the classes you want and need to graduate on time! Orientation, which
is a seperate event, is designed to ensure you are connected to the campus, meet new
friends, explore the Billings community, and experience life as a 'Jacket! Registering
for a Fast Pass Registration session or New Student Orientation serves as your intent
to enroll, letting us know that you are planning to attend MSUB!
In your registration session, you will:
- Register for your Fall semester courses and leave with your schedule, in hand
- Learn how to navigate MSUB course planning and class registration systems
- Apply for specialized campus programs, EARLY
- Take your Campus ID picture and obtain your UCard
- Address your holds, get support with financial aid, confirm your account, and more!
Step 2 - RSVP for New Student Orientation:
New Students are highly encouraged to attend the New Student Orientation event.This two day event is designed to welcome you as a new student and provides meaningful
sessions, timely information, and activities where you'll meet new Yellowjackets,
explore student service programs, master the art of navigating campus programs, preview
college clubs and organizations, and participate in workshops that prepare you for
your first year at MSU Billings. Parents and supporters are welcome to attend New
Student Orientation as we have specialized sessions just for them!
*All students are highly encouraged to register for Fall term courses prior to attending
New Student Orientation.

Join us for an impactful, fun and engaging overnight experience as part of MSUB Orientation. The opportunity to stay in the residence halls with other new MSUB students is a great time to get acclimated to the on campus experience while having the opportunity to meet other students and begin to form your college friendships.

The Fall Kickoff provides you the opportunity to meet your professors, staff, and
fellow new students. Wear your event tee and easily identify other students who attend
your college! The Kickoff is full of free giveaways, food trucks, student clubs, and
engaging activities hosted by MSUB professors and campus programs.
*Be among the first 400 students to pre-register (online or at Orientation), and you'll
have early access to score your Kickoff pack on move-in day (Sept. 1st), guaranteeing
your VIP access (free food truck tickets, kickoff t-shirt, and more)!
