Approximately 750 books on fur trade, American Indians (such as Nez Perce, Apache, Sioux), American Indian Wars, Custer, and general American western history comprise this collection. Pamphlets, various and incomplete collections of journals, his research notes, a signed manuscript, two prints: Gary Carter (signed) – The Parting of the Brigade” and Richard Luce (signed) – The Last Crossing, and two bronzes by Frederic Remington: A White Trapper and Mountain Man also make up this collection. A complete finding aid to the collection can be found in Special Collections.
