John M. Jurist is a biophysicist with special interest in aerospace medicine and human factors. After completing his education at UCLA, he held full time faculty positions in the Division of Orthopedic Surgery and in the Space Science and Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin (Madison).​ He is currently Adjunct Professor of Space Studies in the Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota, and Adjunct Professor of Biophysics and Aviation at Rocky Mountain College in Billings. He is an emeritus member of the Orthopaedic Research Society, a Fellow of the Gerontological Society, Associate Fellow in the Aerospace Medical Association, and a Life Member of the International Association of Military Flight Surgeon Pilots.
