The course is split into two sections with an introduction to ingredients (hops, malts, yeast) featured in the first half along with the comparison between an industrial macro brew and craft beers. Can these new IPAs unseat the exalted status of the citrus bomb known as the west coast IPA? Prepare your taste buds for flavor-packed IPAs from sea to shining sea.

Craft Lagers

March 1, 2018 6 - 8 PM

MSUB College of Education, Room 122

When most Americans think of lager beer they picture the mass-produced lagers you can pick up at any grocery store. These macro-lagers are low cost and low on flavor, weak imitations of the European lagers that inspired them. Hand crafted lagers are seeing a resurgence and share a lot more in common with their European cousins with crisp, clean, malty flavors. Great lagers take time and skill to produce and are the epitome of the brewer’s art.
