An Emergency Notification may be issued immediately upon confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation occurring on campus that involves an immediate threat to the health or safety of campus community members. An “immediate” threat is defined as an imminent or impending threat, such as an approaching forest fire, or a fire currently raging in one of your buildings.
An Emergency Notification may be sent via carillon (PA system), campus phones, email, text message, MSUB Facebook and Twitter accounts, and will show up on MSUB’s website as a red horizontal band describing the nature of the issue. A text message will be sent to the mobile number and/or your email address you specify in Banner (MSUB students and employees) or enter in the Emergency Notification System (as a community member).
A Timely Warning is issued when there is a serious threat of a crime—or a crime occurring or that could be repeated--so that campus community members can protect themselves from harm, in compliance with the federal Clery Act.
